Though I tend to agree with most of your findings there is one
point that I feel was not explored correctly. The data center
equipment market, in my humble opinion, is not in a crash dive
but the throws of a shift. The paradigm of complex network
architecture must shift. Costs are not easily justified,
operational expenses have forced service providers to keep their
prices high and the end user is demanding a better experience
with every service. Compound this with the rising costs of both
power and space and the move is on. This shift to convergence
within network architecture can be summed up as Next Generation
Data Center equipment. It is apparent as Cisco and HP attempt to
build new equipment and compete with each other on a new
level. I believe that over the next 3-5 years you will see the
service providers test and install more efficent equipment, that
is easier to deploy and manage. This shift may even alleviate
cell data back haul by moving content to the base of the tower.
The technology is arriving as I type.
